International Beer Day

For those who love to drink and socialize, maybe you are already aware of this certain day that you celebrate your favorite drink of all time: Beer. People from California have allotted a day, which was the 5th of August to be the International Beer Day. Just like any other event in the world, this international celebration has objectives or purposes as to why the day should be special.

First off from their objectives is to gather with friends and enjoy the taste of beer. Second is to celebrate those responsible for brewing and serving beer. And the third is to unite the whole world by celebrating the beers of all nations on a single day.

Of course, if it’s a beer day, then you wouldn’t want to be caught drinking anything else. If you are together with many fun and hyped celebrators on that day, drinking beer along with them will show your being sociable and fun just like them.

Several different ways of celebrating this day have been invented, through games and programs and other activities. Some exchange different types and brands of beer, some offer free drinks, others create drinking games.

While it is good to be sociable and to be with your friends, to have a common activity with them, which promotes good bonding, we have to see to it that we don’t go overboard.

It’s common knowledge that beer is really bad for anyone’s health. Beer has no good effects, no matter how little you drink. We all know that it is the most widely consumed alcoholic beverage. Many people drink it without knowing what is in it. Beers, in general, have caloric contents reaching up to 400 calories per 12-ounces.

For a person who is conscious of his weight or belly, this drink can be a traitor for you. In one night of socialization, you might not realize it but you have already gained weight in just one night. Let’s have this scenario, when you wake up in the morning, you have a terrible hangover, you don’t realize how much you drank the previous night, and you don’t know how much you should exercise everything off. Let’s say for example you have a regular workout routine, you would need to spend extra effort to lose what you have gained the previous night, but since you do not know how much the beer has damaged you, you do not increase your exercise intensity. But this is just a part of the bad side.

We also know very well that beer contains alcohol. Alcohol is a toxic substance to our body. We can actually say that alcohol is a poison. It damages the liver (which is the organ in-charge of all poisons that enter our body), and the brain especially when drank in large amounts.

You may be thinking right now, “hey, these people will try to destroy the international beer day and get out all the fun from it by preventing us from drinking!” Well, to that, we say, we are just concerned for health. It is not wrong to have fun with friends (we like having fun, too!), as long as you know what you are doing and you take responsibility for what you have done. Balance to everything is the key so that in the end, you will not regret anything.
