Many researches have proven that green tea is rich in catechins which give the plant its color and the name. Most experts claim that the strongest catechin in green tea increases the rate at which fat is burned, and reduces the absorption of calories from the diet.

History of green tea

Green tea has been a tremendous part of Asian diets for many thousands of years. People strongly believe that by drinking several cups of green tea a day you can help yourself lead a longer and healthier life. The Chinese are said to be the first ones to discover tea, and the most varieties of tea are found in China. During the famous Tang Dynasty, wild tea was gathered and steamed on a bamboo tray, grinded into a fine pulp called tea mud and then placed into moulds. The tea was then pressed and left to harden.

A recent scientific study supports the tea’s ability to burn fat and increase metabolism. Even more, other studies show that when you combine it with a more healthy lifestyle, you greatly improve your chance of maintaining a healthy body weight and reducing risk of heart disease. Research shows that green tea contains substances that help with metabolizing more fat. Other obesity studies concluded that people who drink tea for over ten years had lower body fat percentages compared to those who didn’t.
