How should your muscles feel after working out?

Your muscles should feel warm. Movement of the muscles actually generate heat. Your muscles use ATP as their energy source, and in the process, they release heat.

Warming up the muscles is essential to prepare your muscle for the great heat-generation during your exercise. Warm muscles are more elastic and are less prone to injury while cold muscles are stiffer and has a greater chance for injury. Too much heat is not good, though, as this can lead to cramping.
