Some are so overly concerned with how they look like that they don’t know that these thoughts and actions are already serious psychological conditions. One of these is bulimia. In order to understand what bulimia is, we have to know Marnie.</p>
<p>Marnie is a girl who is 18 years of age. She is tall, has a slim frame, and she is beautiful. She has friends who have the same built and height and who have the same interests – to look beautiful and to party whenever they get a chance. Marnie likes to socialize a lot and along with these socializations, she likes to eat. She eats whatever she wants to, eats a whole lot at one standing, because she gives in to what she wants always. But, the thought of getting fat with all the stuff that she has eaten, brings her guilt. She doesn’t want to get fat. She wants to remain beautiful, lean, slim, and attractive. Every after she eats, she goes to the restroom, forces herself to vomit out everything she ate, or to expel them all out by drinking laxatives. Afterwards, she starts eating again. Because of this, Marnie doesn’t gain weight and quite maintains her figure.</p>
<p>As the time passed by, Marnie noticed cavities in her teeth and a stinging throat, a lack of energy for any activity and stomach pains. Soon, she observed her weight to be fluctuating, and her feces was black in color. Marnie one day faints at school and was rushed to the hospital.</p>
<p>Marnie has the condition of bulimia nervosa. She likes to eat, but she expels everything and doesn’t want to absorb the food. Because of the frequent vomiting, cavities and throat ulcers can form. Our stomach contains gastric acid, and with frequent vomiting, the acid reaches the food pipe, the throat, and the mouth. A low level of electrolytes, such as potassium, and dehydration can also result, leading to weakness. Potassium is essential for our muscles and water is very important for our cells to to function well. Stomach ulcers can also occur, which may worsen and lead to bleeding. Black feces is one sign that there can be bleeding in the stomach. Soon, if the conditions go on, the body surrenders and shuts down, therefore, fainting.</p>
<p>Bulimia is especially common among teenagers and among girls. Therefore, complete guidance with regards to diet and psychological support should be given to this age group when it comes to nutrition and being healthy and fit. Those who want to lose weight should not go overboard with this. Bulimia is just too much, and instead of making you healthy, it can kill you. So for best results, consult a fitness expert and nutritionist, because they know the best way on how to make you beautiful, just the way you want yourself to be.</p>

<p>We may have done too much for ourselves, but science gives you hope to have a better life. Obesity can now be treated in various ways. One of the ways is bariatric surgery.</p>
<p>Bariatric surgery is also termed as weight loss surgery. How is this done? The size of the stomach is reduced using a medical device that looks like a belt which is implanted around the stomach, or another way can be the removal of a portion of the stomach, or by resecting the small intestines to a small stomach pouch.</p>
<p>This surgery is effective, in a way that it promises results in the long run. Because you will have a smaller stomach after the surgery, you will feel full sooner every time you eat, making you eat less.</p>
<p>Having this procedure done through studies yielded positive results for the subjects, such as improvement from diabetes and cardiovascular problems associated with obesity.</p>
<p>However, let’s have a reality check. Who would want to go under the knife just to get results? Is having surgery the only hope for having a healthier life? Maybe, for those most severe of cases. You see, surgery has many life-threatening complications. It is always better to consider all methods before going to the operating room.</p>
<p>First of all, obesity could be prevented from happening and worsening if we follow a balanced diet every day. It is not bad to eat what we don’t want to eat. What we want here is eat in moderation all that should be eaten in moderation (those foods which are not healthy), and eat more what we should eat more (those healthy foods).</p>
<p>Second, we should not forget to keep our body moving. We should exercise our body so that whatever we have eaten will be used in the correct way, and not just stored. There are many ways of exercising without going to the gym. This just needs a little patience and hard work.</p>
<p>Who wouldn’t want to live longer and spend more years with our loved ones? Are there obese people who are old? There are none. Obese people live up to only about their 30’s. We have to enjoy life longer. In return, we have to take good care of our body and use it in the right way.</p>

And, are you frustrated because your equipment are not portable? Guess what, here is a simple object that can be your portable exercise partner. It is the kettle bell.</p>
<p>The kettle bell is just like a cannon ball with a handle. It comes in different weights, sizes, colors, and styles. Exercises done with this object are mainly ballistic, or those done in projectile motion, such as swinging of the arms, shoulders, along with the bending of the waist. The kettle bell, though small, can improve your cardiovascular system, your strength, grip, and flexibility.</p>
<p>The muscles which are improved are mainly the arms, shoulders and back. But exercise movements can be modified in order to have your full body workout. Good news for those who want to bust off their bellies, the abdomen can be improved using the kettle bell, too.</p>
<p>A type of exercise which can hit your abdomen and your core is the kettle bell windmill. It works mainly on your abdominal muscles , and also on your arms, thighs, back, and shoulders. How do you do it? This is how:</p>
<ol>
<li>Hold the kettlebell by the handle firmly over head with one arm. Your arm must be positioned straight up. (keep your grip always locked to prevent from releasing the kettle bell)</li>
<li>Swing your working arm (the arm with the kettle bell) forward up to the back.</li>
<li>Simultaneous with the swing, bend forward, keep your feet locked to the ground. Push your butt upward and lower your chest on the floor for as low as you can.</li>
<li>Hold the position for a second and then reverse back the motion to the starting position.</li>
<li>You can do a series of reps on one arm before transferring the kettle bell to the other arm, or you can alternate each cycle between your two arms.</li>
</ol>
<p>This is just one of the many exercises that you can do with the kettle bell to have your over-all body workout. Another variation of the windmill exercise can be bending down diagonally, to work more on your oblique muscles (to lose those love handles).</p>
<p>In order to work out the chest, you can lie down on your back on a flat surface, use the kettle bells as weights and push upward the weights with your hands perpendicular to your chest.</p>
<p>The kettle bells are just like normal weights and dumbbells, but the difference is that you can do more styles of movements with it with its handy handle.</p>
<p>Caution is needed, though, for those with back and shoulder problems or injury.</p>

It is because your abdomen is made up of different big muscles and by doing different movements, you make different muscles work.</p>
<p>The external oblique muscle of the abdomen is the largest and outermost of the muscles of your abdomen’s sides. It is the muscle which runs diagonally from your sides to your groin. They are the muscles that you workout in order to make those love handles disappear.</p>
<p>Some people only do crunches for their abdomen in order to get those 6-pack abs, and they tend to forget the oblique muscles. Strong oblique muscles also provide support to your vertebral column, meaning including them in your workout regimen is not accessory, but important, for a better posture and a stronger torso.</p>
<p>So how do you hit the oblique muscles at exercise? Simple, since the obliques are located at your sides, your movement should also include twisting and bending to the right and left sides. Crunches or forward and backward movement of the waist works the obliques, but not to their full extent, so the side exercises can be very contributory.</p>
<p>Side bends are good for the obliques. If you do not have a dumbbell, you could use a 2-L water bottle or a bag with handles, as long as they are heavy enough as a dumbbell.</p>
<ol>
<li>Standing, hold your weight (the dumbbell or water bottle) in your right hand and hold it at arm’s length down your waist, palm facing your thigh.</li>
<li>Place your opposite hand on top of your head, with your elbow bent and out to the side.</li>
<li>Slowly lower the weight down close to your knee level as possible, pause briefly, and return to the starting position slowly.</li>
<li>Do 8-10 reps.</li>
<li>Finish your set.</li>
<li>Repeat the sets with the opposite hand.</li>
</ol>
<p>Diagonal Crunches are also good and you can insert them in your abdominal crunches routine. Instead of doing straight forward crunches, twist to the side or bring your chest to your right knee, then to your left knee. Remember, the diagonal movements hit the obliques.</p>
